The Quiet Place

There are no televisions or radios competing with the peace and tranquillity of the House.

However we do have a dedicated screening room with complimentary Netflix, news and all the international sports channels and a large selection of classic movies and box sets.

We have no shortage of board games, art supplies and a reading library.

Both the Library and the Marble Room have open fires, window seats  and binoculars to spot the seals and herons in the bay.

Whilst the House is historic, we are not living in the past.

We know connectivity is essential with Wi-Fi  in all the bedrooms.

And we have Samsung tablets and laptops available for guest use.

history of
Barrow HousE

Sir Edward Denny was granted over 6000 acres of Munster

after the Desmond Rebellion.

After many generations, the land around Barrow was leased to William Collis,

a Cromwellian Officer, who married a member of the Denny family.

Barrow Harbour was the major port for the region, servicing the monastic settlement of Ardfert and the general area of Tralee.

A narrow entrance to the Harbour was protected by Fenit Castle on Fenit Island.

The ruins of the castle still remain.

Along with restoring Barrow House, we are committed to ensuring the full history is documented and shared with all our visitors.
